One term that frequently comes up when discussing rookie Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans with seasoned NFL observers is “natural-born leader.”
There are people in every field who people enthusiastically gather around. Ryans already has the top spot among football coaches at the highest level. Deep in the heart of Texas, Ryans is leading an amazing comeback in just 12 games as head coach. Ryans has led Houston into postseason contention by relying as much on his positive outlook and unwavering spirit as on his acute understanding of Xs and Os.
The future (finally) seems bright for the young Texans, led by star quarterback C.J. Stroud and an excellent rookie class. It’s also undeniable that they are following the proper person.
Charley Casserly imagined it all ages ago.
Casserly, a 23-year veteran of the Washington Redskins, was formerly a seasoned NFL scout, assistant general manager, and general manager. He was instrumental in building three Super Bowl-winning teams. Casserly served as the expansion Texans’ first general manager in his second role as a roster architect.
