Head coach Kevin O’Connell and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah of the Minnesota Vikings have outlined the fundamentals of their strategy for first-round pick quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

Even though McCarthy was selected with the No. 10 overall choice after trading up, he won’t start at center until he’s ready. They even added Sam Darnold, a seasoned player with a ton of starting experience, who O’Connell believes still has his best football ahead of him.

It might not require much time. McCarthy is already skilled in several offensive facets for the Vikings.
