Everton owner Farhad Moshiri invests £100m into Premier League club - Business Live

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has seen his net worth shrink by £130m over the last 12 months, according to a fresh report.

The 68-year-old’s value currently rests at £1.5bn on the Sunday Times Rich List, positioning him as the 112th richest person in the country. His net worth has decreased by £200m over the last two years with the billionaire being at the core of a takeover nightmare at Everton.

The company has suffered many significant financial setbacks in the last month, including placing its Australian airline, Bonza, into voluntary administration before having to abandon a buy-out agreement with 777 Partners.

Moshiri had approved an agreement for the company to acquire his 94.1% controlling interest in September, but the Premier League refused to approve the deal because of concerns that the transition would not be financially viable.

It is believed that Moshiri met with Josh Wander, the co-founder of 777, this month to discuss the company’s capacity to close a deal following a lawsuit that Leadenhall Capital had launched against them.

This meeting was held prior to the company’s assets being confiscated in Belgium. It’s unknown what will happen in the process after that, but it’s quite likely that 777 won’t be able to fulfill the takeover conditions.
