Houston Astros: Jake Meyers back, Jose Siri to Sugar Land - unitedhospital.in

Meyers had emerged as one of the primary playing-time losers as a result of Joey Loperfido’s promotion. However, Loperfido has sat in each of Houston’s last two games, and Meyers has delivered on the opportunity to start those contests by going a combined 3-for-8. Meyers is still likely to lose out in the long term, but the Astros may continue to give him run as Lopefido finds his footing in the big leagues.

After starting this season with Jake Meyers as the primary center fielder, the Astros have employed more of a timeshare at the position over the last two weeks.

Mauricio Dubón drew his fourth start in five games in center field Saturday against the Nationals. Meyers started the exception but was on the bench for the fifth time in six games.

“Right now, I just like the at-bats Dubón is giving the team,” manager Joe Espada said prior to Saturday’s game. “But Jake will get his opportunity. I’ve talked to Jake about it. He’s a very important piece to our team. But right now, Dubie, I kind of like the at-bats and how he’s going about things.”
