Philadelphia Phillies Head Coach Rob Thomson Terminates contract with team after Argument with Management
One of the expensive players for the Philadelphia Phillies has begun to provide support to a young player who has been having early-season struggles.
One may argue that if Johan Rojas hadn’t been called up, the Philadelphia Phillies would not have gone on to make another deep postseason run in 2023.
With Nick Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber at the corners, they had one of the worst outfield defenses in baseball before he was promoted. The Phillies were able to move Brandon Marsh to left and restore their slugger to his typical designated hitter role by inserting Rojas in center field.
They were one game away from making their second consecutive World Series participation until they heated up in the second half.
However, Rojas’s offensive in the postseason may have contributed to their failure to qualify for the Fall Classic once more.
The 23-year-old was essentially a lock to be out of the lineup as he went 4-43 with 15 strikeouts.
Similar to that, he had just one hit in his first eight games of 2024 until breaking through with a three-hit day.
Rojas hasn’t exactly been a potent offensive threat after that, but he has had more hits than hits in his outings.
