What comes next for the Bills and Josh Allen following the Stefon Diggs trade?

Buffalo, New York After the second big Stefon Diggs deal with the Buffalo Bills, the dust has begun to settle. After dealing Diggs to the Houston Texans, One Bills Drive sent out a statement to the public acknowledging that the 2024 Bills are still a work in progress. Despite the loss of talent, this club is still being built to be competitive.

Brandon Beane, the general manager, stated last week that “you’re trying to win, and sometimes people may not see that.” “The Bills are by no means giving up, attempting to regress, or anything of the kind with the trade of Diggs. We’re going to keep doing all we do in an effort to win.”

The decision made last week put a lid on an offseason in which established veteran starters were let go and contract space was cleared for upcoming seasons. Not only are the Bills still in position to choose 10 players in the draft, but there is still a chance that late free agency signings may occur. Rebuilding is sometimes indicated by trading away top players, and the Bills are rebuilding their team in a manner, but not in the conventional sense of dismantling everything and beginning over.

Because Josh Allen is a quarterback on the roster, this club will look different and be younger, but the goal hasn’t altered all that much. The Bills are left with several unknowns after trading Diggs, some of which will surface come September’s opening day of play.

Diggs’ four-year career with the Bills is evident in his statistical output. During his tenure in Buffalo, the three-year captain and four-time Pro Bowler amassed 445 catches and 5,372 receiving yards. That is the third-most catches and second-most receiving yards by a player during a four-year period who started the next season with a different team, according to Elias Sports. In those four years, no player had more receptions than that.
