WR Deonte Harty Shocks Fans with Bills Contract Extension…

Harty only played one season with the Bills, but he had a significant impression. The 26-year-old caught 15 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown, but his primary job was as a punt returner.

In the regular-season finale against the Miami Dolphins, Harty returned a punt 96 yards for a touchdown to tie the game early in the fourth quarter. The Bills would subsequently capitalize on that momentum, winning the game 21-14 and claiming their fourth AFC East title in a row.

Harty played the first four seasons of his career with the New Orleans Saints, but some Saints fans may recognize him by his real name, Deonte Harris. He legally changed his surname to Harty in December 2021 to honor his stepfather.

The 2019 All-Pro’s signing with the Ravens is a homecoming for Harty, who grew up in Baltimore. With the NFL’s new kickoff rules, he should be able to have an impact in the return game this season.
