49ers has Finally signed former Packers RB Patrick Taylor for one year deal worth $43million
The San Francisco 49ers have signed former Green Bay Packers running back Patrick Taylor to a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Taylor participated in 34 games with the Packers over the course of the following three seasons, collecting 14 catches for 69 yards, 65 carries for 261 yards, and a score on the offensive side of the ball. He played 276 special teams reps and 322 offensive snaps overall, 226 of which were in the 2023 campaign.
Notably, Taylor was a strong pass protector who gave the club a third-down option in 2023 when AJ Dillon suffered a broken hand. Throughout his Packers career, Taylor was frequently added to and removed from the practice squad. However, he played a six-game span from Week 12 to Week 17 of last season due to multiple injuries at the position, averaging between 20 and 32 offensive snaps each week.
The large running back (6’2″, 217 pounds) was useful on special teams as a tight end-like body on the punt protection and kickoff units.
Although Green Bay had the chance to re-sign Taylor, they probably chose not to given the number of players they already had at the position. Josh Jacobs in its entirety
