I’m Leaving Ravens for QB Lamar Jackson, RB Derrick Henry Announce His Decision

From 2014 to 2016, Dalvin Cook was Florida State’s standout running back. The Seminoles may have had even more depth at running back during his tenure in Tallahassee.

During his time in college, Alabama native and current NFL player Derrick Henry almost went to Florida State, as he disclosed on The Pivot Podcast.

“I thought at the time that these students were just going to one school and then leaving. I was really considering enrolling at Florida State. “I was very nearly leaving to attend Florida State,” Henry admitted on the show.

Between 2013 and 2015, Henry was a standout player at Alabama, amassing 3,591 running yards and 42 rushing touchdowns during his time in college. Before he was drafted in the second round of the NFL, the most of his output came in his last season with the Crimson Tide.

“But me and coach [Nick] Saban had a talk and I eventually ended up staying and everything worked out,” Henry said.

It’s interesting to consider what would have happened if Henry had joined the Seminoles; things in Tallahassee would have been very different. However, Henry might have been better off staying in Tuscaloosa and being coached by Nick Saban, who is regarded as the greatest college football coach of all time.
