Raheem Mostert discovered a true home in Miami in 2023 and plans to stay until 2025.
According to sources, Mostert and the Dolphins have reached an agreement on a new two-year contract worth up to $9.075 million.
After establishing out as a quality back in San Francisco for six seasons, Mostert signed a one-year contract with the Dolphins in 2022, where he averaged 4.9 yards per run in Mike McDaniel’s first season as coach. Mostert increased his totals in 2023, recording his first 1,000-yard season (1,012) and led the NFL with 18 rushing touchdowns.
Mostert put up those stats while sharing the backfield with rookie De’Von Achane, who had 800 running yards and eight touchdowns as part of the NFL’s most dynamic attack in 2024. The results prompted the Dolphins to restructure Mostert’s contract, adding an extra year to keep him with the team until 2025.
Mostert’s revised contract is another watershed event in a career that began with him entering the NFL as an undrafted and underappreciated running back. He spent his rookie season in 2015 with three different teams (Cleveland, Miami, and Baltimore), then moved on to two more organizations in 2016 (Chicago and San Francisco) before settling in with the 49ers.
At nearly 32 years old (he turns 32 in April), Mostert has found a way to cash in on the other side of the 30-year-old threshold, which is unusual in today’s game for his position. We’ll see if Miami is his final stop in a career that has already gone well beyond anyone’s expectations.
