Cornerback Patrick Surtain II Offered 4-years 98.5Million Contract Extension by Broncos

The Denver Broncos have a chance to break the tradition of Sean Payton not selecting a quarterback in the first round of the NFL Draft this year.

According to sources from Mike Garafolo of NFL Network and Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Broncos dispatched offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, quarterbacks coach Davis Webb, and general manager George Paton to Chapel Hill for North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye’s pro day.

General managers, head coaches, personnel directors, and front office decision makers will be in attendance at any pro day showcase featuring a quarterback projected to be selected in the top-10 picks of the NFL Draft—and in Maye’s case, possibly in the first three selections.

After cutting Russell Wilson, the Broncos now have a clear need at quarterback because there isn’t a long-term option on the roster.

The Broncos would probably need to assemble a sizable trade deal in order to move up into the top four choices in order to choose Maye, as Denver is predicted to pick No. 12 overall.
