Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz Terminate Newly Signed Contract After Argument With Management
After a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, the Houston Texans lost their first-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be bolstering quarterback C.J. Stroud’s supporting cast with a potential game-changer.
Tank Dell was having an amazing rookie season when he sustained a season-ending injury, and wide receiver Nico Collins of the Texans has developed as a game-changing prospect.
But don’t expect the Houston Texans to stop acquiring weapons to their armory anytime soon, since budding star quarterback C.J. Stroud is still only a rookie.
Roman Wilson, a wide receiver out of Michigan, is the “perfect fit” for the Texans in the 2017 NFL Draft, according to Pro Football Focus.
Brad Spielberger of PFF comments, “Wilson can be a flanker/slot who brings legitimate track speed to the Texans’ corps.” “A top-25 finish in college football in 2023 with 12 catches on throws 20 yards or more downfield. This is true even though they were part of a run-first offense that frequently didn’t need to push the ball downfield because of early leads and a resilient defense that saw out the game.
“Bobby Slowik, the offensive coordinator, will appreciate Wilson’s concentration on run blocking, as he never takes a play off and takes great delight in creating openings for his running backs to rush the ball. While they could certainly use more skill in the secondary, Houston loaded up on defense this offseason after loading up on the offensive line the previous one. It wouldn’t hurt to have another pass catcher to add to their existing bunch.
Wilson would be well suited to improve Houston’s offense in 2024 and beyond if he falls to the Texans at No. 42 in the first round.
