I’m Leaving Houston Texans for C.J. Henderson, QB CJ Stroud Announced His Decision
This move further demonstrates the Texans’ preemptive strategy of strengthening their defensive backfield in advance of the 2019 campaign.
The addition of Henderson and the Texans’ earlier signing of cornerback Jeff Okudah on March 11 indicate that the team’s cornerback rotation may be changing.
Because of these recent actions, it is expected that Steven Nelson, a crucial starter for the Texans last season, will soon be leaving the organization.
Henderson demonstrated his abilities in 12 games the previous NFL season, earning seven starts for the Panthers.
39 total tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, and two passes defensed were among his accomplishments, highlighting his influence and flexibility on the field.
After being traded to the Panthers in September 2021, Henderson’s adventure began with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who had originally picked him with the ninth overall choice in the 2020 NFL Draft.
His presence in Houston adds even more strength to a defense that is expected to improve in the next year.
Over his 49-game career, in which he has started 32 games, Henderson has accumulated an outstanding stat line that includes 16 passes defensed, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery.
