The Great Lessons Joe Mazzulla Taught the Celtics About Championship Drive

Cedric Maxwell, a Celtics radio analyst and the MVP of the 1981 NBA Finals, recently related a chat he had with Mazzulla inside TD Garden while admiring the championship banners of Boston’s history. Maxwell heard the Celtics coach talk about his desire to win.
“I would do anything, anything to bring another banner,” Maxwell stated in an interview with the podcast “First to the Floor.” “Man, there were actual tears in his eyes. “Big fella, you’re going to get there,” I remarked.
With 56 victories, the rebuilt Celtics team leads the NBA and has the skill and perseverance to go all the way to the title. Maxwell thinks the opportunity is still open if this Boston club is the one of the age to complete the task.
Maxwell said, “It’s the pressure of this year.” “This team could win, the way they’re assembled now, two or three championships with this specific team if the Celtics can handle the pressure and pull through.”
With 12 games left in the regular season, the Celtics can prepare for a championship-or-bust playoff push.
