According to FBSchedules.com, the Tennessee Volunteers have added the New Mexico State Aggies to their football schedule for 2025.

Through a state public documents request, a copy of the football game agreement with New Mexico State University was acquired from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

On Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, Tennessee will play New Mexico State at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. The document of the deal states that the Aggies will get a $1.6 million guarantee from the Volunteers for the competition.

There has never been a football game between Tennessee and New Mexico State.

New Mexico State has finished their debut season in Conference USA after playing five seasons as an Independent in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The Aggies went 10-5 overall at the end of the 2023 year.

At the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Tennessee will play the Syracuse Orange in the Aflac Kickoff Game. At Neyland Stadium that season, the Volunteers are also scheduled to face the ETSU Buccaneers on September 6 and the UAB Blazers on September 20.

The SEC said on Wednesday that starting in 2025, all league teams would participate in an eight-game conference football schedule. With the locations switched, the opponents for 2025 are the same as those for 2024.

Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt are Tennessee’s home opponents in the 2025 SEC; on the road, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, and Mississippi State are the opponents.
