List of 5 Free agents who should be on Warriors’ summer wish list
This summer, the Golden State Warriors will face a difficult decision. There will be some significant choices that will define the future course of this brand, and nothing is absolutely off the table.
Chris Paul will be the simpler choice for the front office to choose. The Dubs must decide whether to extend the contract of the elderly all-time great point guard for one more season or not as he approaches the end of his playing days.
They’ll turn their focus to Klay Thompson after that. The Warriors would be eligible for the taxpayer mid-level exception if they were to re-sign one of the all-time great shooters, who would cost them between $20 and $27 million. They may then start considering additional free agents who might be signed for the MLE at that point.
Golden State should have these five impending free agents on their shopping list.
1. Covington Robert
It is one of the smaller rosters in the NBA when it comes to the Warriors. There are just four players on the roster that are taller than 6-foot-7, thus size is much required. Robert Covington, a larger and more seasoned wing, would be a great addition.
When they dealt Jordan Poole away in the summer of last year, the Warriors leaned on their veteran movement. Although they continue to provide Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody with excellent minutes, Chris Paul’s arrival indicated that they are become more cognizant of their own schedule.
Covington is a versatile three-and-d wing who can elevate the game in a variety of situations. It makes sense to get some insurance with a guy who can shoulder some of the same duties given Andrew Wiggins’ recent lack of consistency.
