At the World Open, Ronnie O’Sullivan furiously smacks the cue on the snooker table as he becomes frustrated.
Following a missed shot in his opening World Open match against Michael White on Tuesday, Ronnie O’Sullivan violently slammed his cue on the snooker table. The Rocket defeated his Welsh opponent 5-3 to progress, but he wasn’t the same powerful player he usually is in China as he competes for a £170,000 cash prize.
In the first-to-five match, O’Sullivan had trailed 3-1 and drawn even with White before regaining the lead and pulling one frame away from victory. However, he missed a long red as he was closing on what would turn out to be a gritty victory, and he vented his fury on the table and his cue.
In the eighth frame, the Rocket was behind 32–29, but they were at the table with five reds remaining. He had a great chance to seal the win if he had sent his long-range attempt into the bottom-right pocket, but he missed it by a considerable margin.
Lately, O’Sullivan has made it clear time and time again that he is more concerned with his performance than the outcome. His cue struck the table hard, creating a loud noise within the arena, and it was obvious that he was disappointed by the easy shot—one that was easy enough for a player of his caliber.
