Owner of Red Bull Chalerm Yoovidhya’ sends Thai spy to snoop on Christian Horner’
In the midst of the English executive’s scandal, Red Bull owner Chalerm Yoovidhya reportedly dispatched a Thai spy to monitor team principal Christian Horner and the entire Formula One operation. A team inquiry exonerated Horner of any wrongdoing when he was accused of acting inappropriately on the eve of the 2024 Formula One season.
The main owner of Red Bull, according to German publication Bild, dispatched a family member known as the “Thai spy” to monitor Horner and the team with intentions to expand the family’s involvement.
During their tenure, Yoovidhya and his family had adopted a laissez-faire attitude, but there were indications that, if they had access to operational details, they intended to implement significant changes.
In recent weeks, Horner has faced growing pressure and has been under scrutiny from spies when a member of Yoovidhya’s family visited the team’s Milton Keynes headquarters to evaluate every division of Red Bull Racing.
With 51% of the team, Yoovidhya is reportedly prepared to take center stage rather than keep playing second fiddle, despite worries about Max Verstappen, Adrian Newey, and Helmut Marko’s uncertain futures due to Horner’s scandal.
Dietrich Mateschitz, the company’s founder who died away in 2022, was a key member of the team, and Yoovidhya wishes to increase the family’s role now that the Austrian is no longer engaged.
