Tyree Thompson, a right-handed pitcher, was signed by the Atlanta Braves as a free agent at the minor league level in recent days, according per the club’s transactions record.
On November 6, Thompson declared his intention to become a free agent following the 2018 season. On March 17, the Braves signed Thompson to a minor league contract.

The 26-year-old right-hander Thompson was a member of the Atlanta Braves organization for the whole 2023 minor league season, mostly playing for Low-A Augusta. Thompson appeared in 18 games for the GreenJackets in all, starting two of them. In 44 innings thrown, he had a 2.86 ERA, 47:17 K/BB ratio, and a 0-2 record.
Additionally, Thompson appeared in ten bullpen games in 2023 for High-A Rome, which changed its name to the Rome Emperors in the offseason. Over 22.1 innings, he recorded a 3-0 record with a 4.43 ERA and a 31:15 K/BB ratio. A year earlier, Thompson had a career-high three saves while playing for the Braves.
