Chris Kapilovic, an Ohio native, moves over to coach the Crimson Tide after being hired by Baylor on December 12, 2023. He has been a successful offensive line coach for a long time, with his most notable accomplishments at North Carolina and Michigan State. “It is a great competition between those guys,” Kapilovic added. “Nothing strengthens a team more than competition. You must understand that the guy behind you is pushing you to win that job, and this elevates the level of play for both players. Brock [James Brockermeyer] is a highly brilliant child. It’s astonishing how quickly he caught up this attack. Parker [Brailsford], who has experience with the offense, is also beneficial, but it is encouraging to see those two players competing.”
Brockermeyer, a native Texan, joined the Crimson Tide as a four-star in the 2021 class. He arrived with his brother, Tommy, from All Saints Episcopal High School. Tommy, a previous five-star recruit, returned back home to Texas Christian University (TCU), but James remained at Alabama. Brockermeyer has only played five games as a backup center in his career, but the junior is familiar with the Crimson Tide mentality. Brailsford, who is starting his second season with a new squad, helped the Huskies earn the Joe Moore Award in 2023 for being the nation’s best offensive unit. Last year, he allowed just one sack to Michael Penix, helping Washington win the Pac-12 Championship and advance to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
