Kirk Cousins signs with the Atlanta Falcons, the team might become favorites in the NFC South.
Kirk Cousins may join with any team as a free agency beginning next week. The Atlanta Falcons are a name that has been circulating recently, particularly in light of rumors that Cousins intended to relocate his family to Atlanta.
Due to the no-trade and no-tag clauses in Cousins’ contract, Minnesota must either let Cousins depart or work out an agreement with the quarterback and the Vikings.
In Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers in the previous season, Cousins suffered a torn Achilles injury that ended his season. He gained 2,331 yards, 18 touchdowns, and five interceptions on 69.5% of his passes completed. Even at 35 years old, Kirk Cousins is still capable of producing on the field for the NFL.
Should Cousins decide to sign with the Falcons, he would take over as the team’s starting quarterback right away, ending the Desmond Ridder era. Because of him and Taylor Heinickie’s subpar quarterbacking last season, Arthur Smith was fired as head coach.
Despite the subpar quarterback play, Atlanta ended 7-10. Both the Tampa Bay Bucs and the New Orleans Saints concluded the previous season with a 9-8 record; however, tiebreakers determined that Tampa Bay prevailed in the division.
The Falcons would be the top club in the division right away if they signed Cousins. Derek Carr is inferior to Kirk Cousins, and Baker Mayfield might not return to the quarterback position for Tampa Bay. Bryce Young will produce enormous work.
