Erik ten Hag has made an unexpected claim about Marcus Rashford’s form after the match against Everton

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has stated that Marcus Rashford’s form is “increasing,” with the attacker expected to have a great finish to the 2023-24 season.

The England international has struggled for form this season, but he has already scored five goals in his last nine Premier League games.

Rashford scored a stunning goal against Manchester City in the Manchester derby last weekend, then converted a penalty in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Everton at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag lauded the 26-year-old’s recent form, and the Dutchman predicts a solid season finale for the Red Devils academy product.

“When he’s on his best, Rashy can be the same [as Alejandro Garnacho]. With his speed, dribbles and directness,” the manager told reporters after the two-goal success over Everton.

“He did extremely well. Last week, he scored an excellent goal. His form is fine and improving. I hope he returns to his best form as the season comes to a close.”

Rashford’s penalty against Everton on Saturday marked his first Premier League goal at Old Trafford.

The forward has seven goals and six assists in 34 appearances for the Red Devils during the 2023-24 season, and he will now look to help Ten Hag’s team defeat Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals next weekend.

“Garna and Rashy are practically unstoppable when they have the moments in the back. Garnacho is making excellent development, and we are really delighted,” said the manager on Saturday.

“His impact today was tremendous, with his dashes and dribbles. It’s also appealing to the viewer, as we obviously want to display something. I believe these were well-deserved penalties.

“He gave us space to get in behind and Rashy also, when he gets in those positions, is difficult to stop.”

Rashford’s long-term future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, with the forward often appearing disgruntled throughout the 2023-24 season.

According to a recent source, his relationship with Ten Hag has deteriorated, and both could leave the club this summer.

However, Rashford signed a new long-term contract with the Red Devils last summer, and his current terms at Old Trafford are scheduled to run until the summer of 2028.
