Alex Fudge, a former Los Angeles Lakers prospect, has now signed a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks, following the conversion of AJ Lawson’s two-way contract to a normal contract on Sunday.
After a depressing Sunday afternoon loss to the undermanned Philadelphia 76ers, AJ Lawson’s two-way contract was converted by the Dallas Mavericks to a regular, long-term NBA contract, allowing him to play for the team in the postseason.
The Mavs quickly filled the third position that became available after making that move, which freed up one of their three two-way berths. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN on Monday, Alex Fudge, a former Los Angeles Lakers project, has agreed to a two-way contract with the Mavericks.
Wojnarowski wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, “Free agent F Alex Fudge has agreed on a two-way deal with the Dallas Mavericks, Shayaun Saee of One Legacy Sports tells ESPN.” “Fudge has been playing for G League South Bay. He was on a two-way contract with the Lakers.”
Fudge averaged 8.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 17.3 minutes per game while shooting 46.7 percent from the field in 18 games for the South Bay Lakers. Given that Fudge is only 20 years old and possesses a seven-foot wingspan, the Mavs may believe that by signing him to a two-way contract, they can unlock some unrealized potential.
