After losing his last two matches, Ronnie O’Sullivan has made the decision to leave the Championship League of snooker. He will be competing in the Riyadh Season World Masters in Saudi Arabia next week.

Ronnie O’Sullivan pulled out of the Championship League of snooker before his team had even completed.

In his opening two games in Group Seven, World No. 1 O’Sullivan prevailed 3-2 over both Elliot Slessor and Sam Craigie. After that, the 48-year-old legend’s performance declined, as he lost 3-0 to Jak Jones in his subsequent game and was defeated 3-2 by Joe O’Connor in his fourth encounter.

O’Sullivan, who has a history of withdrawing from tournaments, had two matches remaining when the tournament officials acknowledged his withdrawal. The final six players in the Rocket’s group will still face off on Thursday at Leicester’s Morningside Arena.

However, O’Sullivan will undoubtedly be back shortly as he is still scheduled to visit

A $1 million (£800,000) prize fund will be available for the three-day competition. O’Sullivan previously stated to Sportsboom, “When I’m out in Saudi, I’ll be giving it 300 per cent.”

However, he has hinted that he would be “tied up” with other duties and miss important events in the upcoming years. When questioned whether he will play at the Welsh Open in 2025, O’Sullivan responded slyly in an interview with BBC Wales.

“That depends,” he answered. “With tournaments and promoters, it’s kind of first-come, first-served. They must come to me and close the deal if they truly want me to participate in the event.
