Two former Celtics get 10-day contracts with Timberwolves, Wizards

Through those 10-day arrangements, two former Celtics have found temporary new homes. The greatest team in the West, the Timberwolves, will get Justin Jackson, according to ESPN. According to The Athletic, Justin Champagnie signed a contract with the Wizards in a different transaction. Teams may sign players for a maximum of two 10-day contracts; beyond that, they must either sign them to a long-term contract or release them.
Jackson began the 2022–2023 season as a member of the Celtics. He began the 2021–22 season with the C’s on a 10-day contract, in part because COVID-19 was influencing rosters throughout the league. At the trade deadline the previous season, Jackson was a part of the Mike Muscala deal. This season, he has averaged 19.9 points per game while playing for the G-League Texas Legends. Jackson at least offers the Wolves NBA experience, having participated in 278 NBA games over his career.
After being picked up by the Celtics at the close of the previous season, Champagnie played two games for them. This gave the C’s a closer look into Champagnie’s role within the company. In 2023, he represented Boston in the Summer League in Las Vegas. However, Champagnie’s contract was guaranteed before the Celtics decided to let him go.
Teams that have been ravaged by injuries and have a vacant roster place at this time in the season are likely to offer 10-day contracts to players.
Following three trades at the trade deadline, the Celtics themselves still have their fifteenth roster spot available. However, since the C’s have considerable flexibility with their roster, don’t anticipate them to add a 10-day player.
