Ben Johnson ranked best play-calling OC in NFL

When Ben Johnson declared he would be remaining in Detroit for another season, the entire Detroit Lions community celebrated.

A portion of the bitterness stemming from the NFC Championship defeat to San Francisco was the awareness that the highly esteemed offensive maestro was probably not coming back. Even while he won’t be leaving the Motor City anytime soon, he will be the focus of attention more than ever.

Pro Football Network ranked him fourth in the NFL among the top offensive play callers in the league.

Considering the names ahead of him, Johnson is ranked as high as he can be (at least the last two). There’s Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs, Sean McVay of the Los Angeles Rams, and Kyle Shanahan of the 49ers, who finished second in the Super Bowl. Not a bad business. Remember that they are all head coaches as well.

Even if Johnson’s departure in 2025 is all but certain, it doesn’t hurt to spread unfavorable rumors as soon as possible to ward off poachers (a hilarious reddit joke I can’t stop laughing at).
