Red Sox agree to $10 million deal with closer Liam Hendriks

The last three seasons, Hendriks, 35, was a member of the Chicago White Sox. In his five outings previous season, he went 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA and one save before missing the rest due to an elbow ailment.

After being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2022, Hendriks missed the beginning of the previous season. However, he declared his cancer-free status in April.

After having Tommy John surgery in August, he might not be able to play in 2024.

The three-time All-Star Hendriks finished 2022 with a 2.81 ERA, 37 saves, and 58 appearances. In 69 appearances in 2021, he finished 8-3 with a 2.54 ERA, an American League-high 38 saves, and a record.

In 476 career appearances, Hendriks is 33-34 with a 3.82 ERA and 116 saves. The right-handed reliever has experience with the Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins, and Kansas City Royals.
