RAIDERS QB JIMMY GAROPPOLO SUSPENDED FOR 2 GAMES, EXPECTED TO BE RELEASED

Jimmy Garoppolo, the quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, was suspended by the NFL for two games. Adam Schefter of ESPN claims that Garoppolo’s suspension stemmed from his use of performance-enhancing drugs in violation of the NFL’s policy.

Schefter was informed by sources close to the Raiders organization that Garoppolo will be cut by the team in the upcoming weeks. It is anticipated that the transfer will occur prior to the 32-year-old player’s eligibility to receive his $11.25 million roster bonus in the middle of March.
Before the 2023 season, Jimmy Garoppolo signed a $73 million, three-year contract with the Raiders, of which $33.75 million was guaranteed. With this move, he was reunited with Josh McDaniels, the head coach, who had previously worked as Garoppolo’s offensive coordinator with the New England Patriots.

After having a dismal debut for the Raiders, Garoppolo was benched in Week 9 in favor of rookie Aidan O’Connell. As a starter, he went 3-3, throwing for 1,205 yards and seven touchdowns, and at that point, he led the league with nine interceptions.
