Lions’ Jared Goff opens up about playoff win over Rams

Jared Goff, the quarterback for the Detroit Lions, recently chatted with West Wilson of Complex regarding the team’s victory this past January in the wild-card playoffs over the Los Angeles Rams, who employed him from 2016 until the 2020 campaign.

As early as the fall of 2021, Goff admitted that he felt humiliated and held a grudge after being traded to the Lions in exchange for Los Angeles signal-caller Matthew Stafford after the 2020 season.

Before the playoff game against the Rams at Detroit’s Ford Field, the 29-year-old declared that the trade-related chip on his shoulder would “never leave me.” Goff went on to complete 22 of 27 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown in the 24-23 victory, which gave the Lions their first postseason victory since January 1992.

In the end, Detroit made it to the NFC Championship Game, but lost to the San Francisco 49ers 34–31 after blowing a 24–7 halftime lead.

Goff is a major factor in the Lions’ Friday afternoon ranking as the second-best NFC betting favorite with +1200 odds to win Super Bowl LIX in February, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. As such, Goff may soon sign a contract extension with Detroit.
