Football: Six TCU athletes invited to 2024 NFL Scouting Combine
Six players from TCU’s 2023 football squad have been invited to take part in the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, which will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis from February 26 to March 4. Invitations to compete in the annual scouting tournament were extended to offensive linemen Andrew Coker and Brandon Coleman, defensive backs Josh Newton and Millard Bradford, tight end Jared Wiley, and running back Emani Bailey.
Wiley, Coleman, and Bailey all recently participated in the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama in 2024. Although Newton was asked to participate in the game, he finally chose not to go. Coker was one of the TCU athletes competing in the Frisco, Texas, East-West Shrine Bowl in 2024. Safety Mark Perry and offensive lineman Willis Patrick, two prominent Horned Frogs who played in the Shrine Bowl earlier this month, were not invited to the combine.
Jared Wiley rose to prominence as a fan favorite in just two seasons in Fort Worth. The massive tight end received the titles of massive 12 Offensive Player of the Year (Honorable Mention) and First-Team All-Big 12. In 2023, he caught 47 passes for 520 yards and two touchdowns. Against Baylor, he had his best performance of the season, hauling in seven passes for 178 yards and two scores.
In 2022 and 2023, Newton earned the titles of First-Team All-Big 12 and Second-Team All-Big 12. He contributed significantly to TCU’s incredible 2022 run for the national championship and played well despite a weak defense in 2023. In 2023, Newton recorded 33 tackles, one interception, and seven passes defensed.
Indianapolis, IN will host the NFL Combine from February 26 to March 4. The NFL Network is where you can watch it.
