Reports state that the agreement looks to have been reached on a free transfer, but Spurs would still be entitled to a sell-on clause.
The youthful defender worked his way up through the Lilywhites’ program, eventually making it to the U21 team by steadily moving up from the youth setup.
In his remarkable 99 appearances for Tottenham, Lyons-Foster has been captain of the Premier League 2 squad on several occasions, displaying his leadership abilities and contributing as a center-half with three goals and three assists.
The 23-year-old demonstrated his ability to make the first team when he was selected to start two games as a substitute in the senior squad of the North London team during the 2021–2022 campaign.
Lyons-Foster, a London native, has played in 14 games this season in all competitions. He has led the team onto the field in 8 of those games.
Throughout this campaign, he has played as a defensive midfielder five times, as well as five times as a center-back, demonstrating his versatility. He has also filled in at right-back four times.
Says TBH:
Everything works out well for everyone. Lyons-Foster receives playing time, Spurs retain potential future earnings through a sell-on clause, and HJK Helsinki assumes no financial risk.
