Lakers: How LeBron James, Stephen Curry could still team up despite failed trade talks

Brian Windhorst made light of the rumors circulating that the Golden State Warriors were attempting to acquire LeBron James from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for him joining forces with Stephen Curry. He claimed that the two had been discussing forming a partnership for months. “What if I told you guys that LeBron and Steph have been genuinely considering playing together for months and that they genuinely want to play for Steve Kerr? They want to see that happen so they can win something that would mean a lot to them and excite basketball fans everywhere.” On ESPN, Brian Windhorst stated. And that’s at the summer Olympics in Paris with Team USA. If everyone is well and they can figure things out, that is when they will play with each other.

Windhorst did continue to remark that there was some ambiguity around LeBron James and the Lakers following the remarks about the two stars collaborating on USA Basketball, particularly in light of his social media activities leading up to the game at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks.

Even though Rich Paul publicly stated that he would not be asking for a trade or being traded, there was still some doubt about where LeBron was at, according to Windhorst on ESPN. “LeBron’s actions and the Lakers’ performance did inspire some awe.” Windhorst continued, “That’s why there was some experimentation with James playing with Stephen Curry on the Warriors,” but James has effectively committed himself back to the Lakers. The Lakers will now reassess things in the summer after sticking with their current squad at the deadline.
