Jahmile Addae Is Leaving Miami To Become The Buffalo Bills Cornerbacks Coach
The coach of the Miami Hurricanes’ defensive backs will need to be replaced.
Under Mario Cristobal, Jahmile Addae coached Miami’s defensive backs in 2022 and 2023. He was co-defensive coordinator at West Virginia in 2020 and defensive backs coach at Georgia in 2021 before moving to Coral Gables.
Addae recently started working as a cornerbacks coach with the Buffalo Bills. It will be his first position as an NFL coach. First to report on the news was Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.
Cornerbacks Tyrique Stevenson (Bears) and DJ Ivey (Bengals) were also drafted after Addae’s rookie campaign in Miami. James Williams and Kam Kinchens, two safeties for Miami, are anticipated to be selected in the April draft.
Miami will have to fill a coaching position for the second time this offseason. It has been claimed that Miami is going to replace former RB coach Tim Harris Jr. with USF rushing game coordinator Matt Merritt.
Alonzo Highsmith, Miami’s GM of Football Operations, also left for the front office of the New England Patriots.
We haven’t yet seen a list of potential Addae substitutes appear. Demarcus Van Dyke, a former cornerback for the Hurricanes and current pundit, will be well-known to Miami supporters. “DVD” just agreed to work at USF.
It’s important to note that Mario Cristobal typically works in near silence when doing his coaching searches. Very few, if any, had suggested Merritt as a possible successor to Harris.
